Today, January 26, is International Customs Day, a day that seeks to increase the efficiency of Customs administrations around the world to unify customs procedures and systems that put a stop to trade. international illicit and illegal activities.
The functions of Customs in Spain are governed by the Customs Territory Convention of the European Union. In their work, they not only supervise the collection of tariffs but also guarantee that the local industry is not affected by merchandise from third countries that could enter the country irregularly. Thus, for any product that circulates between countries of the European Union, it is necessary that the commercial invoice, the customs agent’s invoice and the DUA (Single Administrative Document) be available for importation.
The creation of this day was decreed during the first session of the Customs Cooperation Council, held in Brussels, Belgium. Currently this organization is called the World Customs Organization (WCO) and its main objectives include the creation of standards for international trade, promoting ethics and legality in customs and developing rules on customs matters.
Congratulations to all our professionals and, also, to the Spanish Customs.
